Backstage Passes
|
Basic Info On Backstage Passes: Backstage passes are used to identify persons on
tour, guests, VIP's and other people associated with the tour. Laminates
are used by band members and the crew. Contrary to popular belief
backstage passes are never sold. Passes for guests are left at the will
call booth about an hour before the show. Proper photo ID is required to
pick them up. Passes are not easy to get they are almost impossible. They
are given out to friends and family of the band and crew. Then there are
the Meet & Greet passes that are given out usually by radio stations
or the record label. Fan clubs sometimes not always will have Meet &
Greets with the band. Joining a fan club is a good way to get passes but
not guaranteed.
If you are lucky to get a pass it will most likely be a Meet & Greet pass. It will come with a letter instructing you where and when the Meet & Greet will be. The letters look like this. Your passes will be left at the will call booth for you. They will be in an envelope that you will have to sign for and show proper photo ID to pick up. The envelope will include the passes and the letter telling you where to go and when. Who Has Made Backstage Passes For Garbage: From the first tours in 1995 to the Beautiful Garbage tour Perri Made all of Garbage's passes. Passes for the Bleed Like Me 2005 tour were made by Cube Passes since Perri is no longer in business.

Debt. Era Laminates 1995-1996 The passes from the tours in 1995-1996. The first pass is from the tour of Japan 1996. . The "Industrial" & "Lounge Access" pass is from the tour in 1996. None of these passes is really hard to find the rarest if I had to guess would be the "Green" Almo Sounds pass.

Debt. Era Laminates Winter 1996 & Japan 1996 These three passes would have to be the rarest of all. They appear to have been made by the band. They are not passes that were made by Perri. |

Debt. Era Satins Passes from this tour are few and far between. The three passes shown to the right are the only ones that I have seen from this tour. The passes are pretty straight forward as to there designation. |

Version 2.0 Laminates 1998-1999 The Version 2.0 tour pass features the "Axis All Areas" pass where this website got it's name. There were two other laminates for the tour. One was the VIP pass and the other was the Record Company pass. From a distance it looks like Duke. Up close it is really just blue dots of different sizes. For the Mtv Campus Invasion tour in 1999 the band changed the laminate to "All Axis". This pass was made to resemble a "Do Not Disturb" notice for a hotel door.

Version 2.0 Satins For the Version 2.0 Tour Garbage three different satin passes in four colors. These passes were used for the entire Version 2.0 tour & the Mtv Campus Invasion Tour. The only pass that changed for the Mtv Campus Invasion Tour was the crew laminate. The Photo pass from the tour only came in one color red. |

Glasgow Aftershow 01.23.99 This pass was used for the "After show" January 23, 1999. This pass is on loan from the collection of Subhuman.net. It was obtained from a rep at the record label. |

Beautiful Garbage Tour 2001-2002 The "Beautiful Garbage" laminate was the first time the band used foil stamping on the laminates. The pass had a small vine on it that was a reflective holographic stamp. The VIP pass from the BG tour was very similar to the AAA pass. . The most noticable difference is the VIP pass is actually smaller than the AAA pass. The actual pattern of the foil is the same on both passes the only differnce is the foil on the VIP pass is red.. |

Beautiful Garbage Satins Passes from the Beautiful Garbage Tour have been scarce on the collectable scene. These are all of the statin passes that I have seen so far. I would guess that the working pass came in all four colors but I have yet to see them in blue and red. The same goes for the heart shaped pass.

Bleed Like Me Laminates The Bleed Like Me passes were used for the 2005 tour. These are by far the most elaborate passes the band has had made. The passes featured the "tape" theme. The tape on the All Access & VIP laminates were completely done with foil stamping. For the bands show in Madison, Wi. They had special laminates made for the after party. |

Version 2.0 Pass Boards Backstage
security is a necessity for a band on tour. When a band
arrives at a venue they provide the local security a "pass
board" that shows all the passes that are valid for the nights
performance. The pass board is usually 11x17 and is black and white. It
shows the passes and gives a description of the they are used for.
On the Version 2.0 world tour the pass boards were not black and white
copies of the passes but actual the real passes. The pass boards had all
the passes that were being used that night as well as a section for the
date, venue, and city (shown to the right). These were hung on the wall in
the backstage area. |

No Doubt Tour Fall 2002 Garbage toured as a support act for No Doubt in the fall of 2002. As a support act the band used No Doubt's passes. They were marked with a "G" to signify that they were for Garbage since No Doubt were using the same passes. The band and crew used the No Doubt laminate for the tour. The laminate shown to the right is a VIP pass. It was given to me after the tour.

Smashing Pumpkins Leg 1 & 2 For the Spring/Summer tour while opening for the Smashing Pumpkins the passes shown to the right were used. The theme was "Planet Of The Apes". Since the band was the opening act they used the headliners passes. They would have a "G" placed on them to signify they were for Gabage.

Smashing Pumpkins Leg 3 & 4 For the Fall/Winter tour while opening for the Smashing Pumpkins the passes shown to the right were used. The theme was "The Incredible Hulk". Since the band was the opening act they used the headliners passes. They would have a "G" placed on them to signify they were for Gabage.

Alanis Morissette 1999 Passes from the 1999 tour Garbage was opening for Alanis. I am still working on the passes from this tour. So far I have only found passes on the two colors shown. I am also looking for the laminate that was used on this tour.

This Pass Is A Fake I have been told this pass is a fake and was not used by Garbage on any tour. If you are collecting "Real" passes that the band has used this is not one of them. It is commonly sold on ebay.

|
This Pass Is A Fake Another pass frequently sold on ebay and is a fake. This was to the best of my knowledge never used by the band on tour. The back has a "Perri" logo that is a really really bad copy. The bad used the standard BG laminate for the 2002 tour. |
